10 people were killed on Mirzamurad-Kachhwa border GT road under Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh today morning when the tractor trolley they were travelling in was hit by a truck from behind.
The Mirzapur Police informed that the deceased were all labourers who were returning to their homes in Mirzamurad, Varanasi, after a roof casting work (dhalai) in Bhadohi district. The Police also said that the incident took place around 1:00 am and there was a total of 13 persons aboard the tractor trolley when the mishap happened. The injured were evacuated and are said to be receiving treatment.
On getting information, the police rushed to the spot and promptly started investigation, the Police said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives in the road accident at Mirzapur and announced an ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Mirzapur, UP. He added that the injured would be given ₹ 50,000.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in that the district administration has been instructed to immediately provide financial assistance of ₹ 1 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹ 50,000 each to the seriously injured.
