The Lions Club of Kohima would conduct the Lions International Peace Poster Contest on the theme, “Together As One,” organised by Lions Club of Kohima on October 10 at the Red Cross Building in Kohima.
This was announced by Lion Oken Jeet Sandham, President of Lions Club of Kohima and Lion Max Marius Menuse-O, Contest Chairperson during a meeting on Thursday at Lions Service Centre in Kohima.
The 11 schools, which would participate in the contest with 2 students each are: Dainty Buds, Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Fernwood, Government High School New Market, Government Middle School Officer’s Hill, Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School, Mezhür High Thizama, Bumblebee Inclusive School, and St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School.
One male and one female, totaling 2 students each, would represent the ten schools, except for Little Flower Higher Secondary School (an all-girl school), which will have 2 female participants.
It was informed that three special schools – Jo Foundation Inclusive School, Cherry Blossoms Inclusive School and also including Bumblebee Inclusive School – will be participating in the non-competitive category, with one participant each.
The top 3 winning posters (1st, 2nd and 3rd positions) from the competition would be sent to the Regional and National rounds, and if selected, would proceed to the International Headquarters for the ultimate international round to be examined by artwork experts.

The international winner would receive a huge prize and citation and would travel with a parent/guardian and Kohima Lions Club to the international award ceremony. Additionally, 23 merit award winners would also receive attractive cash prizes and citations at the international level.
Prizes are also set aside for the first, second and third positions at the local level.
The event would be graced by Army Col Manoj Sankhyan, Commandant, 13 Assam Rifles, as the chief guest and Hmingthansanga, Programme Executive, Doordarshan Kendra Nagaland, as the guest of honour.
The Lions International Peace Poster Contest is a global initiative aimed at promoting peace, understanding and harmony among children. Through art, young participants express their thoughts and visions for a more peaceful world.
