A 110-foot Bailey Bridge was successfully launched on Tuesday, resulting in the restoration of road connectivity between Tuensang and Mon districts, a DIPR report said. A massive landslide triggered by incessant rain near Thimlak Village had caused extensive damage to the road at KM 18.050 on 16 July 2023, leading to the collapse of the existing Bailey Bridge and cutting off road connectivity.

The crucial road link between Tuensang and Mon has been successfully restored by HQ Project Sewak (Border Roads Organization).

In response to the crisis, the 100 Road Construction Company of the 15 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Sewak took immediate action. A temporary bamboo bridge was swiftly constructed on 18 July 2023, to facilitate pedestrian traffic through the affected area until the new Bailey Bridge was put up.

The swift and efficient efforts to restore road connectivity were met with appreciation from both the public and the Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang. The successful reconstruction of the vital link between Tuensang and Mon is seen as a significant achievement for the region, ensuring smoother travel and accessibility between the two districts.
