13 teams to compete in Mokokchung Inter-School Basketball Tournament 2025

A total of 13 teams from 9 schools across Mokokchung district will participate in the inaugural Mokokchung Inter-School Basketball Tournament 2025, organized by the Basketball Association Mokokchung District (BAMD) under the aegis of the Nagaland Basketball Association. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 10 to 12 at the Basketball Court located at Imkongmeren Sports Complex Mokokchung Town under the theme “Forging Future”.

According to Tutu Jamir, Convenor of the Organizing Committee, the participating teams include 9 boys teams and 4 girls teams. Three schools from outside Mokokchung Town — Clark Memorial Higher

Secondary School, Impur; Yajen Aier Government High School; and Changki Government High School —will also be joining the competition.

Preparations for the tournament are currently underway. BAMD has assigned 10 mentors who are conducting training sessions at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, every day at 5 a.m. and 2 p.m., depending on player availability.

Around 65 interested players are undergoing coaching.

Players from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School are receiving training from their school’s sports coach, while players from outstation schools will be coached once they arrive ahead of the tournament.

As per BAMD’s earlier press release, the association is providing lodging facilities for outstation teams.

The competition is open to all high schools and higher secondary schools in Mokokchung district, including institutions from villages, subdivisions, and towns. The tournament aims to promote basketball at the grassroots level, develop teamwork, discipline, and leadership among students, and is envisioned to become an annual feature in Mokokchung’s sporting calendar.

Registration is still open for schools interested in participating in the upcoming Tournament. For
