13th National Voters’ Day celebrated in Noklak

Noklak: Sangmo from 56th Assembly constituency and P.Shou from 57th Assembly constituency were presented with the best BLO awards

Along with the rest of the nation, Noklak today celebrated the 13th National Voters’ Day under the theme ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure’ at the DC’s Conference Hall.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Noklak, K Mhathung Tsanglao, NCS, pointed out that NVD is celebrated on the foundation day of Election Commission of India.

Tsanglao said that this year’s theme is meant to encourage new voters and remind all that the future depends on who the voters cast their votes for.

The DC urged the voters to have conscious exercise of electing the leaders and not to succumb to monetary influences.

While appreciating the District Icons namely district PwD (Persons with Disabilities) and campus ambassadors, he encouraged them to continue taking part in the electoral process and spread awareness on ethical voting.

District PwD Icon and President of Noklak District Differently Abled Persons Association (NDDAPA), Heno and District Senior Citizen Icon and President of Pensioners’ Union Noklak, Thangsoi also spoke on behalf of the electors during the occasion.

The DC gave away the best Booth Level Officer (BLO) award to Sangmo, a primary teacher at Government Middle School Nokhu from 56th Assembly constituency and P.Shou, a primary teacher from Government Primary School Kingniu from 57th Assembly constituency.

DC Tsanglao also felicitated selected first-time voters in the district.

At the programme, Tsanglao also gave away the prize of ‘Selfie with District Icons competition’ under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) where Yenkham (with District Icon Senior Citizens) and Niuwon P (with District Icon PwD) won the prizes.

Voters’ Pledge was also administered on the occasion.

The program was chaired by EAC Noklak, Kathyinla and vote of thanks was spoken by Assistant Programmer, Election Department, Noklak, Sentimeren Jamir.

Meanwhile, as part of the SVEEP campaign, District Administration, Noklak in collaboration with Dreamers’ Production, presented a Street Act Play on ‘Ethical Voting’ at Police Point, Noklak Town.
