15th Lotha Football Championship 2026: Tsumang FC and Nitsuyan FC advance to semi-finals

The first quarter-final of the 15th Lotha Football Championship 2026 between Friends Club and Tsumang FC, played at the Public Ground, Wokha, ended in a thrilling contest as Tsumang FC advanced to the semi-finals after winning the penalty shootout, following a 3–3 draw at the end of regulation and extra time.

Friends Club made a strong start and dominated much of the first half. Joel Haokip opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before Saronbemo doubled the lead three minutes later in the 26th minute. Renjamo Murry added a third goal early in the second half, scoring in the 47th minute to give Friends Club a commanding advantage.

Tsumang FC mounted an impressive comeback in the second half. Sulanthung pulled one back in the 46th minute, while Ephyothung Odyuo levelled the score in the 70th minute. Ephyothung struck again in stoppage time, scoring in the 93rd minute to force the match into extra time.

With neither side able to find the net during extra time, the match was decided on penalties. Tsumang FC held their nerve in the shootout, with their goalkeeper producing a crucial save to seal the victory.

In the second quarter-final of the day, Nitsuyan FC produced a dominant performance to defeat Flamingo FC 7–1 and secure their place in the semi-finals.

Flamingo FC managed a solitary goal through Nitova in the 77th minute. However, Nitsuyan FC controlled the match throughout, led by a four-goal haul from Yiben Ezung. Ayenmongba added two goals, while Yhoto Lohe contributed one to complete the rout.

The quarter-final action will continue on February 5, with Nyiro Range FC taking on Old Changsu FC, followed by Yon Sporting Club facing Airfield Colony FC.
