16 days of activism against gender based violence culminates at Meluri

The 16 days of Activism against Gender Based Violence Cum Human Rights Day, culmination programme was observed at DC’s Conference Hall, Meluri on December 10, organised by the District Administration and Sakhi- one Stop Centre, Mission Shakti Meluri.

SDPO Meluri, Dr T Desela Sangtam, who served as the Guest Speaker stressed the reason why Human Rights Day is observed and said, “If there is no human rights, there will be discrimination and the world will be in chaos and war.” Human rights are constitutional Rights, which gives freedom of expression and that’s how we grow and develop as a human being, he added.

SDPO also encouraged the students to report any cases of abuse to the School Authority, Police or Sakhi – OSC.

Jitsiasa Nyusou, Centre Administrator, highlighted about Sakhi-OSC Services Centre, emergency helpline 181 & 1089. Chiekerho Nyusou, case worker (Legal) spoke on Gender Equality Good Touch & Bad Touch under POCSO Act 2012. SDPO Meluri led a pledge Against Child Marriage.

Earlier, invocation was pronounced by Asst. Principal, St. Xavier Higher Secondary School Meluri, Rev, Fr Peter Pehiachanglu.

The programme was attended by the students of Government Higher Secondary School Meluri, St Xavier Hr Secondary School Meluri, S Pethüry School Meluri, Christian Mission Higher Secondary School Meluri and teacher representatives from the Schools. Rhothovi Nyusou, Office Assistant Sakhi- OSC, Meluri delivered the closing remark and the programme was chaired by Lozüvi, Case worker, OSC, Mission Shakti Meluri.
