The 16th National Voters’ Day 2026 was celebrated at the DC Conference Hall, Noklak, on January 25 under the theme “My India, My Vote.”
Deputy Commissioner and DEO Noklak, P. Mono Khiamniungan, in his address, stated that National Voters’ Day is observed annually on January 25 to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. He said the day was instituted by the Government of India to encourage greater participation of citizens, particularly young voters, in the democratic process. He called upon all eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18 years to enroll themselves in the electoral roll.
The DC further urged all BLOs under 56 AC Noklak and 57 AC Thonoknyu to ensure that every eligible voter is enrolled, emphasizing that no eligible voter should be left out. He also stressed the importance of maintaining a clean and error-free electoral roll, free from duplicate or doubtful entries. The DC also presented the Best BLO Awards to P. Thoho Khiamniungan, BLO of Polling Station No. 17, Nokhu Noking under 56 AC Noklak, and T. Thangming, BLO of Polling Station No. 6, Lengnyu under 57 AC Thonoknyu, in recognition of their outstanding service.

SDO (Civil) & ERO Noklak, Vikhoto Richa, highlighted the present status of the electoral roll in Noklak district. He elaborated on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, being conducted after nearly 15 years, and explained that SIR involves an intensive verification of the entire electoral roll, unlike the routine Special Summary Revision (SSR). He emphasized the need for active cooperation from political parties, BLOs, BLAs, and voters, stating that a clean e-roll is essential for free and fair elections. He also informed about changes in polling stations to improve voter accessibility and encouraged voters, especially first-time voters, to verify their details through the ECI online portal.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by EAC Noklak, L. Yantsothung Lotha, who also administered the Voters’ Pledge. A special song was presented by Shangsoi L, while the vote of thanks was delivered by EAC and AEO Noklak, Bangjunglemba.
