17 samples out of the 49 from Dan Village under Noklak district which were sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV) at Pune, Maharashtra for investigation have tested positive for H1N1 Swine Flu, a source has shared the information today.
Confirmation and further information are awaited from the authorities.
The village in the Indo-Myanmar border had been severely affected by the outbreak of an illness with flu-like symptoms. With just one nurse stationed at the village’s Primary Health Centre, the Dan Village Council had approached the Assam Rifles for help who conducted a three-day medical camp from 23-25 August 2024. Two nurses were also sent from District Hospital, Noklak to assist in the camp.
