18 of 19 passengers dead in plane crash at Tribhuvan Intl Airport in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: pilot of the plane was the sole survivor

A Saurya Airlines plane crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal on Wednesday at 11:00 am while taking off.

According to Nepal Police, there were 19 passengers onboard and 18 of them have been declared dead while one is injured.

The Nepal Police also informed that all of them were employees of Saurya Airlines of which 18 are Nepalese and one from Yemen. The plane was on its way to Pokharo which is around 25 minutes from Kathmandu for maintenance, it added.

According to a report from The Hindu, the pilot of the plane was the sole survivor and had been taken to Kathmandu Medical College for treatment.
