The 19th Mongmong Football Championship 2022 kicked off today at Public Ground, Kiphire. The event was organised by the Kiphire Area Students Union (KASU), marking the very special and prime festival of Sangtam Nagas – Mongmong 2022.

Special Guest, Ms Chubamongla Kichu, EAC, Kiphire thanked the KASU for organising such a wonderful football tournament which is both financially and physically challenging.

She shared warm greetings on behalf of the DC, T Wati Aier, who was supposed to be the Special Guest but could not attend due to an emergency meeting at Kohima.

Kichu said how she was optimistic about the future of youths who are interested in football and hoped that through the football championship, new talents in football would be discovered and the youths could also polish their skills in the field, thus enabling them to represent their district and state in days to come.

The pastor of Kiphire Town Baptist Lithro (KTBL) pronounced the invocation while the Christian Education Department (KVBL) of Kiphire Village Baptist Lithro performed the opening ceremony.
