The 1^st edition of the 3×3 Basketball tournament in Mokokchung concluded on December 16 organized by the Zungia & Tepenjem Basketball Club in collaboration with the Nagaland Basketball Association. Themed “Fortress Against Substance Abuse,” the event took place at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex on the Mokokchung District Basketball Court.

In the Men’s category, Team Z emerged as the champions, with Team Mashi Mashi securing the runners-up position. In the Women’s category, Team Anishi claimed the championship, while the Alley Oop Troop secured the runners-up position.

The Tepenjem Basketball Club extended its gratitude to the Zungia team for taking up the initiative to promote the sport and provide a platform for young players to showcase their talents. Special gratitude was also extended to Panger Walling for sponsoring the Women’s 1^st prize, Prof. Bendang Walling for sponsoring the Women’s 2^nd prize, and Zungia for sponsoring both prizes for the Men’s category. The support of the Nagaland Basketball Association in the initiative was also acknowledged.

The primary goal of the event is to address the unexplored facets of basketball, nurturing the younger generation through micro-events known as seed events. Zungia and Tepenjem has further invited the citizens of the town to contribute goodwill gestures in organizing such events, creating ample opportunities for the youngsters, with the understanding that good things come in small packages.
