The 1st Inter-Departmental Sports Meet of Chiephobozou Sub-Division was held on November 7 at the NAPO Multipurpose Hall, Chiephobozou, Kohima.
Addressing the inaugural function as the Guest of Honour, Director of Youth Resources & Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose, appreciated the Heads of Offices led by the ADC Chiephobozou for making extra efforts in organizing the tournament. He commended them for encouraging the citizens under Chiephobozou Sub-Division, providing a platform to showcase their talents, and promoting physical fitness. He further urged the citizens to take up sports not merely as a hobby but as a profession.
Sekhose also mentioned that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio and Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, the government has been working tirelessly to improve the sports scenario in the State.
He highlighted that, under the initiative of the Chief Minister and with the support of the Nagaland Olympic Association and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, the Nagaland Football Association successfully organized the Nagaland Super League, which broke several records among other states in terms of the highest prize money and has helped inculcate a sports culture among the youth. He also informed that a proposal for a Special Sports Complex has been submitted to the Government of India.

During the Closing Ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, who graced the occasion as the Special Guest, encouraged the participants to carry forward the same team spirit into their respective offices. He further urged all officials to serve the people with sincerity and dedication, adhering to their assigned duties and responsibilities.

ADC Chiephobozou, Alemyapang Longchar in his short address, stated that the main objective of the sports meet was to foster understanding, cooperation, and coordination among all government employees serving under Chiephobozou Sub-Division. He thanked the Department of Youth Resources and Sports for providing the futsal ground and requested the department to provide a badminton court at Chiephobozou for badminton enthusiasts.
All departments under the sub-division participated actively in the tournament. The results of the events were: Tug of War (Men) – Rural Development Department and NAP & IR bagged 1st and 2nd prize respectively, while in the Tug of War (Women): Medical Department and Other Allied Department secured 1st and 2nd prize respectively. In Futsal Football: NAP & IRB, and Police, Fire & Emergency Service were judged 1st and 2nd respectively. In the Badminton (Men’s Doubles), Education Department was declared the champion.
