1st Open Badminton Tournament of Aoleang concludes

Mon: There were 70 participants with the youngest being 8 years old and the oldest being 60 years old

1st Open Badminton Tournament of Aoleang organized by the Mon District Badminton Association and Officers’ Club Mon at Badminton Stadium, Mon.

The 1st Open Badminton Tournament of Aoleang concluded on 3 April 2023 with MLA, Y. Mankhao Konyak gracing the closing function as the special guest, a DIPR report stated. The Badminton Tournament was jointly organized by the Mon District Badminton Association and Officers’ Club Mon at Badminton Stadium, Mon.

Y. Mankhao Konyak, in his speech, encouraged the players that winning and losing are both part of the game and added that participation is more important. He highlighted some Government initiatives for sports and games in the State and also stated that to have a progressive society, it needs progressive minds and progressive physical. Konyak said that one will achieve their goal only through hard work.

MLA, C. Manpon Konyak who also attended the programme encouraged the players and stated that games and sports are not just a part of life, but its keeps one’s life fulfilled.

President Konyak Union, Tingtok exhorted the players and the teams to play with discipline. He said that it was very encouraging to see the officers posted in the District playing badminton with the public and making friends. He also sought the cooperation of the NGOs and citizens of Mon for peace and development.

Superintendent of Police Mon, Uniel Kichu in his welcome speech informed that there were 70 participants with the youngest being 8 years old and the oldest being 60 years old.

The programme was chaired by Yaom while vote of thanks was delivered by VP MDBA, Nyamphong.

The result of the 1st Open Badminton Tournament of Aoleang:

  1. Under 15 girls winner: Angel, Runner up: Anon
  2. Under 15 Boys winner: Nokpon, Runner up: Rehan
  3. Mixed Double winner: Ponlih and Shemon, Runner up: Yaom and Rokozo
  4. Men’s Double winner: Abo and Yatsak, Runner up: Shemon and Rokozo
  5. Veteran winner: Winsha and Homanng, Runner up: Y. Pongba and S. Imtitemjen Ao
