1st Quarter National Lok Adalat held in Nagaland

A total of 384 matters and cases were amicably settled and disposed off on March 14 during the 1st Quarter National Lok Adalat held across the state, informed a press release by the PRA, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA).

A total of 511 cases were taken up for settlement where 11 benches were set up in the district headquarters of the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA). The total settlement amount was Rs. 4, 75,37148.00

The success of the disposal rate in the National Lok Adalat in Nagaland is about 75.15 percent. Cases taken up were at pre-litigation stage including bank recovery cases, loan recovery and telephone bills and those at pending stages were criminal compoundable offences, MACT and other civil cases.

Longleng DLSA conducted 1st Quarter National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex. Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary Kumdilong Kessen, NJS, was the Presiding Officer. Retainer Lawyer K. Bongyei Phom, Deputy LADC Monyei Phom, and Panel Lawyer L. Yingloi Phom were the conciliators. A total of three cases were taken up—two pre-litigation and one pending—and all three were disposed of, with a total settlement amount of ₹6,97,389.

At the Phek DLSA 1st Quarterly National Lok Adalat held at the District court complex Phek,  Duvelu Vero, District & Sessions Judge cum Chairperson Phek DLSA was the Presiding officer with Vethothi Vero Chief LADC, Thukutalu Chizo Panel Lawyer Phek DLSA and Thomeweu Panel Lawyer Phek DLSA as conciliators, assisted by PLVs .A total of 51 cases of Bank Recovery loan were taken up and disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs. 93, 07,049.

Kiphire DLSA conducted 1st Quarter National Lok Adalat at District Court complex on 14th March, 2026. Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary Holika Sukhalu, NJS was the Presiding Officer. Deputy LADC Lizila Sangtam and Panel lawyer Limkhushi Thongliu were the conciliators. All together 31 Pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 11 were disposed of with the total settlement amount of Rs. 3,26,047.

In Kohima, the first National Lok Adalat was conducted at the District Court Complex, Kohima under the supervision of the Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA). Chairperson, KDLSA and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kohima, Mezivolu T. Therieh addressed the beneficiaries and bank officials, highlighting the importance of Lok Adalat. Beneficiaries and bank representatives were encouraged to make the best use of this platform to settle their cases in a fair, peaceful and cooperative manner. Mezivolu T. Therieh, Chairperson, KDLSA cum Principal District & Sessions Judge, and Cheliam Khiamniungan, Secretary KDLSA cum Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kohima served as the Presiding Officers, eight panel lawyers as conciliators, assisted by five Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and 13 banks attended and 20 cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat, including 17 pre-litigation cases, two pending trial MACT cases, and 1 Money Suit. All the cases were successfully disposed of, with a total settlement amount of Rs. 22,04,927.

Mon DLSA conducted its 1st Quarter National Lok Adalat at District Court Mon with Wokono Yhoshü, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary DLSA Mon, as the presiding officer. Advocate Topha Panel Lawyer DLSA Mon, Henlem P, Panel Lawyer Mon DLSA, Chumei Mercy Asst. LADC Mon, were the conciliators. All together 13 pre litigation bank recovery cases and one litigation case were taken up where 11 were disposed off with the total settlement amount of Rs. 58,59,268.

The Mokokchung DLSA conducted its 1st Quarter National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex. Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary Julian Sithlou, NJS was the presiding officer. All together 15 pre litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 15 were disposed off with the total settlement amount of Rs. 30,48, 633.

Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) conducted 1st National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Wokha. Seyielenuo Mezhu, District and Sessions Judge /Chairperson WDLSA was the presiding officer. Five pre-litigation Bank recovery was taken up and disposed off with a total settlement amount of Rs 8,57,561.

Zunheboto DLSA conducted its 1st Quarter National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex.  District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman ZDLSA Phuleto Yepth,NJS was the presiding officer while Easter H Yepthomi and Vilibo K. Zhimo were the conciliators. All together 12 pre litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 12 were disposed off with the total settlement amount of Rs.1481608.

The Tuensang District Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority conducted its 1st Quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex, Tuensang Nagaland. The National Lok Adalat was presided by Principal District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman Tuensang, DLSA Somet Chumden Chang, NJS, and Retainer Lawyer, TDLSA .P.Herola, Thondi Ongphang, Assistant LADC and Ayangla, Panel Lawyer as the conciliators. All together 14 bank recovery cases were taken up and five bank cases were disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs.7,99,500.

The Peren District Legal Services Authority PDLSA conducted 1st National Lok Adalat at SBI Jalukie Branch with Khrievono seletsu as the presiding officer with panel lawyers from Peren District Legal Services Authority. The SBI, Jalukie Branch along with Nagaland State Co-operative Bank, Jalukie participated at the Lok Adalat. A total of 200 pre litigation bank cases were taken up out of which 110 cases were successfully settled with a total settlement amount of Rs. 48,71,500.

Dimapur DLSA organized the NLA sitting at the District Court complex presided by Principal District & Sessions Judge. 146 cases were taken up and 141 cases were disposed off with a total settlement amount Rs. 1,65,12,665.00 only.
