2 candidates declared unopposed for Bhandari Town Council, 5 for Wokha TC

Wokha: 27 candidates will compete in 11 wards under Wokha Town Council election

21 Candidates from 9 Wards, with 6 women and 15 males, who filed nomination papers as candidates for the upcoming ULB Election for Town Council Bhandari, had withdrawn their candidatures on the last date of withdrawal on 18th June 2024.

As a result, two candidates – Renbilo M. Humtsoe from Ward No-7 Etsu/GHSS (Women Reserved Ward), and Khonthungia Odyuo from Ward No-2 Meritchu Ward – were declared as unopposed candidates by the ADC & RO, Bhandari for ULB Election to the Town Council Bhandari, Longdiba L. Sangtam.

Joint Secretary & Observer for ULB Election for Town Council, Bhandari. Avelu Ruho was also present on the withdrawal day, DIPR said.

Meanwhile, four candidates were declared unopposed for the Wokha Town Council election 2024, for the ensuing Urban Local Bodies election.

ADC & Returning Officer, Wokha, K. Furhesie Nyuwi handed over the declaration of unopposed winning certificates to the four candidates, on 18th June 2024 at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha in the presence of ARO & SDO (C) Tsidi.

The unopposed candidates are- Renthunglo Kikon (NDPP) Ward No.1 (Reservation), Lily T Humtsoe (NCP) Ward. No 4 (Reservation), Nzano Kikon (BJP) Ward No-13 (Reservation) and Rukhumo Kikon (BJP) Ward No.14.

With the declaration of four unopposed out of the 15 wards under Wokha town council, 27 candidates will compete for the remaining 11 wards under Wokha Town Council election, two women candidate are contesting on general category.

One candidate from Ward No.15 withdrew his candidature for the upcoming WTC election 2024.
