20 airguns surrendered by Nitoi Village youth in Kiphire as part of World Wildlife Week

Kiphire: DFO Kiphire emphasises on human-animal coexistence

Twenty airguns were surrendered by Nitoi Village youth at an Airgun Surrender Program organised at Nitoi Village, Kiphire on 2nd October 2024 by Nitoi Village Council in collaboration with the Kiphire Forest Division & Wildlife Division. The event was held as part of the World Wildlife Week 2024 under the theme – “Wildlife Conservation Throughout Coexistence.”

In his speech, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO Kiphire), Rama Shankar Prasad, IFS, said, Peaceful Coexistence with the Nature: Forest, Wildlife & Environment is the only solution for a better future of human being. He also opined that both humans and wildlife need to coexist together with minimum conflict, which is possible by individual action of each one of us.

The DFO highlighted that the Wildlife Week is a yearly event celebrated in the first week of October. The main purpose of the program is to generate awareness among masses to save wildlife, since everyone have the collective responsibility to Protect Wildlife & Save Environment.

The Program was also attended by ADC Kiphire, Longdiba L Sangtam, Range Officer Kiphire, Aaron R Yimchunger.
