21 individuals who filed nominations for ULB polls from Mon district sign ‘GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND’

Mon: Individuals apologize for causing discord within Konyak community

The 21 individuals from various wards under Aboi, Naginimora and Tizit town councils in Mon district who had earlier filed nominations to contest in the council elections but later withdrew have signed a “GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND” facilitated by the Konyak Union.

Earlier, all the nominations were filed on 11th June 2024. Following this, the KU has summoned all 21 of the individuals and gave them till 13th June to withdraw from Urban Local Body elections. All of the eventually withdrew their nominations on 14th June 2024.

In the bond signed on 25th June 2024, the “defaulters” “acknowledge and admit to willfully violating” the Chenmoho resolution of the Eastern Naga People’s Organisation (ENPO) and the Konyak Union to abstain from participating in any Central or State election.

“We regret our actions, which went against not only the resolution but also the desires, aspirations, and collective pursuit for justice by the people of ENPO and the Konyaks in particular,” the document stated. Apologising for their actions that caused discord within the community, they declared that they “now understand the importance of unity and adherence to the collective decisions made for the greater good of our society.”

Further, they promised to

“1. Refrain from any actions in the future that violate the resolutions and collective decisions of the ENPO and the Konyak Union.

2. Support the cause and movement of the people to attain Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) status and work towards the fulfillment of this goal with utmost sincerity and dedication.

3. Act as responsible and resolution-abiding citizens of ENPO and Konyak Union.

4. Promote unity, harmony, and the collective interests of our people in all our future endeavors.”

The 21 individuals include four from Aboi, eight from Naginimora and nine from Tizit.
