220 new members join Congress in Kohima mass enrolment

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) held a mass joining programme at Congress Bhavan, Kohima, on Friday, where 220 members from various backgrounds under Kohima district officially joined the party.

Welcoming the new entrants, NPCC president and Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir said the Congress would focus on good governance, quality education, job creation, and inclusive development. He assured that the party was committed to fulfilling the aspirations of Nagaland’s youth, who are yearning for change.

NPCC working president (Administrative Zone A), Khriedi Theünuo, in his address, emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilization to strengthen the party. He cautioned against policies that could undermine India’s linguistic diversity and unity, while also recalling the Congress party’s historical role and its survival through a firm belief in secularism. He noted that the decision of many to join the party despite its present position out of power reflected their genuine motives and faith, which offered renewed hope for the organization.

The programme was chaired by Khuvishe (Atomu), working president of DCC Kohima, and began with an invocation by Seyievilie Sachü, NPCC secretary. Ketseiyie Mere, president of DCC Kohima, delivered the welcome address.

Earlier in the day, the Nagaland Youth Congress (NYC) launched the nationwide ‘Stop Vote Chori’ campaign at Congress Bhavan, Kohima.
