The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has announced that it will be organizing the 24th Edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy at IG Stadium, Kohima from September 7 to 28.
“The month long tournament is organized in respect and honour of the two comrades Late Kekuojalie Sachü of Kohima Village and Late Vikhozo Yhoshü of Kigwema Village who were the victims in the indiscriminate firing of the Nagaland Armed Police from Alichen on 20th March, 1986 during a peaceful rally called by the Naga Students’ Federation to protest against the State Government’s decision on the extension of Disturbed Area Belt from 5 KM-20 KM along the Indo-Myanmar border and against the induction of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre into the state of Nagaland,” Informed a press release by Vizokho Zashümo, Convenor, Organising Committee and Metebo-o Sote, Secretary Sports, ASU.

Besides individual prizes in various disciplines, the Organizing Committee informed that there will be attractive cash prizes along with trophy and citations for the tournament Champion, Runner-up, losing semi finalists and quarter finalists. Therefore, all the interested teams/clubs and enthusiastic players from within and outside the state are notified to start their preparations to partake in the most coveted month long soccer tournament.
“While urging all the players and football fans to gear up for the most celebrated tournament, the Organizing Committee is also happy to announce that this year, there is an open invitation for ground management. Thus, those interested may kindly contact the organizers on or before 4th August, 2024,” informed the Committee.
