The Tenyimi Students’ Union Mokokchung celebrated its Silver Jubilee under the theme “Embracing Diversity, Shaping Futures” today at Town Hall, Mokokchung with Kudecho Khamo, Advisor for Taxes & CAWD, as the Chief Guest.
Advisor Khamo asserted that the fundamentals of peace coexistence and unity among the Naga community for a better world is only possible if we understand and accept each other. He also stated, “The more we talk about peace and unity, the more division is occurring in our society,” while citing that the Naga freedom movement objective and vision is one, which is sovereignty and freedom but unfortunately, “we have to fight through many factions.”

He lamented that even churches are broken into pieces but the ultimate goal is about salvation.
In this connection, he encouraged the younger generation to take up the responsibility to carry forward to the contributor and the driving force in making a strong and progressive society.
“With our education and with the opportunity given to us, let us rise at this challenging time to rebuild our society, the broken life, families, relations, churches and the broken societies; restore our given tradition and culture- not just the traditional dress and cultural song but the culture of being honest, hardworking and generous,” Khamo urged the students.
He further challenged the students that in the name of the Naga community, “we must meet instead of divide and promote peace and unity by learning to understand and accept each other.”
In regards to education, the advisor opined that education is not only about reading and writing or only about earning degrees upon degrees but exercising with wisdom to the challenges of life and facing the world with confidence and courage.
The Advisor said education should equip us to contribute to the society with the ability and knowledge to acquire a respectable life and be an acceptable member in the society.
He, however, lamented that our education system produces mostly job seekers, not job creators. Khamo added that the attitude and the mindset of the people of the state, even the elite, believes that Government jobs are the only way for livelihood, progress and success whereas the world belongs to entrepreneurs today.
