25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy: 13 teams eliminated, 32 remain to vie for title

From humble beginnings, the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy has grown into a symbol of passion, unity, and opportunity in the scene of Nagaland football.

As the ongoing 25th Anniversary Edition of the tournament completed its seventh day on Saturday at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima, Mez & Co ousted Kigwema Students’ Union in a 5-0 thriller. Mez & Co’s Thokchom Adison Singh scored a hattrick while teammates Bijoy Moktan, Tangua Ragvi and Noulevituo Pienyü scored a goal each. In the second match of the day, Sadar Hills FA beat Nagaland University 4-0. Langougin of Sadar scored a hattrick and Ngamchinlen added one to make it a total of four goals for their team.

So far, the competition has been intense, with 13 teams eliminated out of 45. Thokchom Adison Singh of Mez & Co currently heads the highest goal scorer list with 10 goals in his kitty.

Mez & Co has created a record-breaking moment in this tournament during its first match against Kohima Bible College, where an unprecedented 17 goals were conceded in a single game.

The organisers of the tournament have informed that in order to bring the excitement to more fans and communities, eight matches are scheduled to be played at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium from September 23 to October 1, with one match per day at 5 PM. The remaining fixtures, leading up to the grand finale will take place at IG Stadium, Kohima.

For wider accessibility, the tournament has introduced e-ticketing through BingeBoxx, which is also providing live streaming coverage for both venues, IG Stadium Kohima and Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
