Nagaland United Sports Club (NUSC) emerged as the champions of the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2025. NUSC defeated Chedema Village Youth Organisation (CVYO) by 3–1, in the final match played at Indira Gandhi Stadium on October 18.
Addressing the finale , Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, T.R. Zeliang who was the the special guest highlighted the unifying power of sports and the enduring legacy of sacrifice. Zeliang described the event as a “momentous occasion” that has become a cherished platform for unity, discipline, and youthful excellence in Nagaland.
He also paid tribute to Late Kekuojalie Sachü and Late Vikhozo Yhoshü, in whose memory the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy was instituted. He noted that sustaining the tournament for 25 years reflects the organizers’ commitment to sports development, collective memory, and identity.
“The tournament is more than a sporting event, it’s a living tribute to the sacrifices of those who came before. Each year, when this Trophy is played, we do not merely celebrate football — we honour the spirit of sacrifice, unity, and peace that defines the Naga people,” he said.
The Deputy CM highlighted the tournament’s significance in promoting unity, athletic talent, friendship, and harmony among the people. He lauded the organizers for their efforts in bringing together players, supporters, and communities from across Nagaland. Zeliang further commended the Steering Committee led by Medo Yhokha for their dedication, discipline, and teamwork in organizing the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy.
Stressing on the theme “Goal for Peace,” Zeliang noted that sports can be a powerful instrument for peace-building and reconciliation. Addressing the youth, Zeliang described them as the strength and future of the state, and the “bridge between Nagaland’s past and future”, urging them to strive for excellence,
Zeliang urged the need to renew the collective commitment to the ideals represented by the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy. “In their honour, let us continue to build a Nagaland where every young person can dream freely, play proudly, and live peacefully,” he said.
Further, Zeliang congratulated the organizers, participating teams, and supporters for their efforts in making the 25th Anniversary Edition a memorable celebration of sportsmanship and unity.

Medo Yhokha, Convenor, Steering Committee shared that the NSF Martyrs’ Trophy is a testament to the unwavering commitment and sacrifice of countless individuals who have fought for a just and rightful cause.
This prestigious trophy, he said, is not about seeking status or profit, but about upholding the core values and purpose that define the Naga people. “It strives to complement and complete the efforts of others in promoting the beautiful game of football, while honoring the legacy of the martyrs. Let us pay tribute to the martyrs and reaffirm our commitment to their cause, working together towards a brighter future for all Nagas,” expressed Yhokha.
The champions NUSC received a trophy, citation, and a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh, while the runners-up, Chedema VYO, received Rs.3 lakh along with citations.
Sanathoi Metei (NUSC), Player of the Tournament, was awarded with a citation and a two-wheeler. Sanaton Singh (NUSC) won the Golden Glove with a citation and Rs.25,000. Hemping (NUSC) was adjudged Best Defender and awarded with Rs. 25,000. Manglienboi Neihsial (CVYO) won the Best Midfielder title, and Thokchom Adison Singh (Mez & Co.) received the Golden Boot with ten goals.
The Fair Play Award was presented to Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, Promising Player (U-20) to Suziilo Mao (Mao Students’ Union), Best
Coach to Khogen Singh (NUSC), and Best Referee to Thumli Joyshing Monsang.
All individual trophies were sponsored by Imli Sunüp Ao, proprietor of G-Sports, Chümoukedima.
The closing ceremony of the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2025 featured several dignitaries and officials. Keneingulie Mere, Pastor, Tsiesema Baptist Church, pronounced the invocation.
The closing ceremony was compered by Keneido Peseyie, Vizosienuo Shüya, and Neidilhoutuo Neibu Sechü. Asano Zashu and Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü hosted the prize distribution ceremony.
