The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the bye-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency (AC) in Mokokchung will be held on April 9.

Following the demise of veteran politician Imkong L. Imchen on November 11, 2025, the seat for  28 Koridang AC fell vacant. Until his demise, Imchen was serving as the Advisor for Information and Public Relations (IPR) and Soil and Water Conservation, Nagaland.

The ECI made the announcement on March 15 while issuing the schedule for 2026 General Elections to state Legislative Assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry.

The bye-election to eight constituencies was also declared for the state of Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Tripura.
