Rampage CC, Lancer CC, Phyolumo 11, BBC, Highlanders CC, LCYO, Elite CC and Kohima Royals are through to the quarter finals in the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge organised by Senior Noble Klan at Public Ground, Wokha.

In the first match on Tuesday, GAPYO won the toss and opted to bat first and set a rather low target of 83 runs all out in 19.5 overs with only three batsmen reaching the double figure mark, Rhonchio (20), Jondemo Tungoe (13) and Renbemo (12). It was an easy chase for Highlanders CC who won the match in 7.5 overs, with all the wickets to spare.

The two opening batsmen Hiketo Aye and Jitu scored 39 and 35 respectively. Hiketo Aye was adjudged the Man of the Match for contributing behind the stumps and scored 39 runs while batting.

In the second match of the T20 cricket tournament, Rising Stars won the toss against Black Hawks. Choosing to bat first, the Rising Stars set a target of 156 runs losing 6 wickets with top contribution from Abel Shitiri (28), Chonben Kithan (27) and Myingthung (18). Black Hawks failed to reach the target and Rising Stars won the match by 14 runs. The top contributors for Rising Stars were Bidemo (38) and Renponthung (60). Bowler Renbemo Jungio was adjudged the Man of the Match for claiming 3 wickets.

The Patron of the Day was Tek Bahadur, Head Master, Springdale School Wokha and senior cricketer from Wokha.

The quarter final matches of the 28th Winter T20 Cricket Challenge will begin on Wednesday (10 January 2024)
