29th Spero Meliora 2023: Stage set for thrilling literary competitions, display of talents

Kohima: Essay and Spelling Bee in Tenyidie included for first time

The 29th Spero Meliora 2023 will take place on 12th August at Kohima Village Council Hall, Kohima village under the theme “Break the Ice and Steal a March”. The much-anticipated annual literary event aims to celebrate literature, promote reading and writing skills, and encourage students to showcase talents of the students from the village.

Jointly organised by Kohima Village Students’ Union and Dolphin Club, Kohima, Spero Meliora 2023 will be graced by Kesonyü Yhome, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary to Nagaland Chief Minister, Works and Housing, Finance as Special Guest of the inaugural program, while Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS, Director of Youth Resources and Sports, will be Guest of Honour of the valedictory program

Speaking to Nagaland Tribune in an exclusive interview, the convenor of the 29th Spero Meliora, Kethosituo Mepfhüo mentioned that he was thrilled to see the competitive spirits of the students and their positive eagerness and energy towards this event. He mentioned that in this event they will feature various literary competitions such as singing competition, instrumental, essay writing, elocution, extempore, fine arts, spelling bee, quiz and debate competitions.

The convenor had also highlighted that they had included Tenyidie in essay and spelling bee competitions this year to keep the language alive and promote the importance of preserving one’s language.

Spero Meliora is not just a platform for showcasing literary skills, but it also serves as a platform for students to gain confidence, learn from each other, and interact with like-minded individuals, Mepfhüo stated. It fosters a love for literature and encourages students to nurture their talents and pursue their passions, he added.

The convenor also extended invitation to one and all and informed that the organisers were expecting a good turnout. He also hoped that it will be a day filled with positivity, enthusiasm, and inspiration.

Kethosituo Mepfhüo further mentioned that they were looking forward to witnessing the amazing talents of the students and celebrating the power of literature together as a community.
