The 2nd Nagaland State Futsal Championship (NSFC) is all set to commence from 7-10 October at Reiphinyü Badze, Vürie T Khel Model Village.
The 2nd NSFC is organised by the Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) under the aegis of Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and All India Football Federation (AIFA)
During the Press Conference held at 2K Hotel, the president of NFA, K Neibou Sekhose, informed that eight teams representing different districts will be participating in the Championship. The winner will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and the runner-up team will receive Rs 50,000.
NFA Vice President Kiyeka Sumi informed that the NFA, for the first time, is conducting a tournament under Competition Management System (CMS) of All India Football Federation. Participants of the Championship will be registered under the Central Registration System (CRS).
He further said the Champion team will be representing the state in the forthcoming National Futsal Championship which is likely to be held in Delhi, in the month of November.
While the first edition of Nagaland State Football Championship had 16 team participants, the second edition is able to host only eight teams. The Championship had a certain qualifying process which many districts could not complete, Sumi informed. Few districts came forward at the eleventh hour but the organiser were unable to grant them access as the Central Registration System (CRS) is in the hands of All India Football Federation (AIFF), he added.
The NFA vice president also informed that the medica company Sports Cast will be telecasting the State Futsal Championship.
According to Nagaland Football Coaches Association President and the Convener of the Organising Committee, Roko, the eight teams will be participating in the 4-Day event Championship:
- Aphuyemi FC (Zunheboto)
- Proper FC (Mon)
- Kesko FC (Dimapur)
- G-Sports FC (Chümoukedima)
- Nimok power FC (Phek)
- Vanguard FC (Tseminyu)
- Zasivi FC (Kohima)
- Lengreng FC (Peren)
Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, IAS and Chairman for Kohima District Sports Council will grace the event as the special guest, Roko informed.
First match will be played between Aphuyemi representing Zunheboto district and Proper-V FC representing Mon district.
