3-day training on Inclusive Assessments under the Department of School Education’s NECTAR Project commences

A 3-day workshop (11 to 13 December, 2024) on Inclusive Assessments commenced today, with expert resource persons from Educational Initiatives (Ei), the external agency onboarded for the Exam Reforms component under NECTAR Project.

The workshop will focus on capacity building of various stakeholders for strengthening inclusive assessment practices in Nagaland, informed the Communications Team (NECTAR).

The first day will have teachers learning about inclusivity and accessibility in school and board examinations, including how to create question items that allow students with diverse abilities to effectively show what they have learnt. The second day will consist of capacity building of Inclusive Education Coordinators and Inclusive Education Resource Persons (IE RPs) under Samagra Shiksha on understanding inclusive assessments and on supporting children with special needs in availing support from their schools for school exams as well as accommodations allowed by NBSE for board examinations.

Finally, the third day will focus on capacity building of officials from NBSE, DoSE, SCERT, Samagra Shiksha, ANPSA and CEDOK on system level understanding of inclusive assessments and how the State of Nagaland can move forward in making assessments/examinations more accessible for children with special needs and thereby make education more inclusive.
