30th General Session of TSUK held

The Thenyizumi Students Union Kohima (TSUK) today organised the 30th General Session cum Fresher’s Social 2025 at Dr Setu Memorial Hall, Alder College, Sepfüzou Colony, Kohima, with Vezhoto Nakro, Divisional Accounts Officer, Public Works Department (Roads and Bridges), Government of Nagaland, as Guest Speaker.

Addressing the event, Nakro highlighted the importance of building self-esteem and upholding integrity.

He pointed out that everything circles around God’s creation in life. He emphasised the need to live purposefully and meaningfully is to remember God’s creation.

Nakro asserted that education without God is like a clever devil, while he warned that a life without self-esteem would be wasted and without light. In this regard, he advised the students to consider themselves as God’s masterpiece in order to live a respectable life, breaking barriers of fear with appreciation and thankfulness.

He also highlighted the significance of the life of faith and exhorted the students not to sideline God, as it would be a foolish act. He also added that in life, without self-esteem, life would be an insult to God’s creation, and he asked the students not to discard their gifts in life nor diminish them.

Inspiring the students to be competitive, he advised them not to be frustrated nor let failures determine their life pursuits as they start a new chapter of their life with dreams.

Observing that many abuse food and drinks, he exhorted the students to properly handle and maintain life, besides being conscious in life, seek God, have a mentality to dream big and pursue with hard work.

Nakro explained that when one has self-esteem, one also changes attitudes towards others and society by creating willingness to accept responsibilities, build an optimistic mindset, stay motivated, improve performance and also impact the surroundings.

He also warned of imminent traits of people with low self-esteem and advised the students to be watchful of such characteristics to be successful in life. Additionally, he advised the students and the participants to be accountable in life and specially asked the students to be mindful of screen time in order to excel in life.

Village Council Chairman (VCC) Thenyizumi, Medothi Rhakho, delivered greetings celebrating unity, growth and success. He also commended the achievements of members and students.

Greetings were also delivered by Tekhewulo Chirha, Social and Cultural Secretary, Chakhesang Students Union (CSU), who exhorted the students to make good choices as they step into their next phase of life. He expressed concern about AI taking over in this age and called upon them to use it wisely but not at the cost of their hard work and creativity.

Earlier, the Presidential address was delivered by Zhokhosa Dawhuo, who highlighted the achievements made by the Thenyizumi over the years while also congratulating the members and the freshers.

On the occasion, ‘Achievers Talk’ was presented by Kekhrulu Nakro, Top 18, HSLC Examination; Metsilu Swiho, Top 5, HSSLC Examination (Science Stream); Nukhoto Dawhuo, NSSB CASE 2024; and Akhruto Dawhuo, NSSB CASE 2024. Miss Universe Nagaland, Kelülü Dawhuo, also made a special appearance on the occasion.

The education and statistical report was presented by Atolu Thisa. A speech on behalf of the freshers was also delivered by Kehuneyi Poru.

A folk song was presented by the Women Society Thenyizumi Village, while a song was presented by Keluvelu Thisa and Thepuyho Thisa. The programme was led by Vehuto Kezo, Vice-President TSUK, while it began with an invocation prayer offered by Zanehu Dawhuo and later concluded with a benediction prayer offered by Neposwu Kezo.

The new executives of TSUK for the tenure 2025-26 were declared by Vesekho Thisa, Convenor, Nomination Committee, which will be headed by Er. Vede Dawhuo as the new President, and a dedicatory prayer was offered by Kroseyi Theyo.
