35th Nagaland State-Level Taekwondo Championship: Nagaland Police team wins 7 medals

Nagaland Police Taekwondo team secured seven medals in the recently concluded 35th Nagaland State-Level Taekwondo Championship cum Under-14 “Catch Them Young” tournament held at Longleng from July 30 to 31.

The Nagaland Police Taekwondo Team fielded seven participants, led by Coach ABSI Seyievilie Nakhro and Team Manager ABSI Menuodilhou Maurice Üsou. The team delivered a commendable performance, securing a total of seven medals:

• ABSI Menuodilhou Maurice Üsou – Gold

• L/Naik Antimonyu – Gold

• CN Samuel Tinglise Sangtam – Gold

• ABC Mongkai Phom – Gold

• CN Atothong – Silver

• CN Tautangmong – Bronze

• ABC Aliba – Bronze

The tournament was hosted by the Longleng District Taekwondo Association (LDTA) and organized by the Nagaland Taekwondo Federation (NTA) in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS), Government of Nagaland.

This prestigious championship witnessed participation from 17 teams, comprising representatives from 15 districts, as well as teams from Nagaland Police and DYRS. The tournament served as a platform for young and seasoned martial artists to showcase their skills, foster sportsmanship, and strengthen the spirit of unity through sport.

The championship concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, graced by Kethosituo Sekhose (NCS), Director of Youth Resources and Sports, as the chief guest. In his address, Sekhose lauded the tournament as “one of the best organized in the state” and emphasized the Department’s commitment to strengthening the sports ecosystem in Nagaland by enhancing infrastructure and encouraging youth participation.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Manngai H Phom, while LT Hendoc Phom, Convenor of the Championship Committee, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all stakeholders, participants, and supporters who made the event a success.
