35th Nagaland Taekwondo Championship concludes at Longleng

The 35th Nagaland Taekwondo Championships Valedictory Programme was held on 31st July 2025, with Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose as the valedictory guest at the Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium, Longleng.

The special guest, in his address, firstly thanked the organizers for giving him the honour of being the guest today, and extended appreciation to the organizing team. He stated that the tournament has recorded the highest number of participants so far, and said this is one of the best-organized tournaments in the entire state. Sekhose further appreciated the hospitality that was shown.

Sekhose stated as he visited Yingli College and several other places in Longleng, he saw signs of hope and growth, and believed that with the dynamic leadership of our Chief Minister who himself is a sportsperson, great development will come. He mentioned that 31 indoor stadiums, 20 futsal ground, and 6 football turfs are currently coming up across the state, and efforts are being made to ensure that every district is included. He shared that he is confident that the district will benefit from this very soon.

He also appreciated the parents who encouraged their children to take up Taekwondo and further stated that it is not just a sport, but also an avenue for teaching discipline and sharpening the mind. Witnessing some amazing matches today, he believed that things are only going to get better with time and dedication. And lastly he said that with the Taekwondo team, he looked forward to more collaborations in the future so as to build a strong sense of discipline and perform at the highest levels.

Convener organising committee L.T. Hendok Phom, said the word of gratitude.

The best referee was awarded to Anirudra Pandey, the best female fighter was awarded to Visazuno Sachu, and the best male fighter was awarded to Vilabizo Nagi, and the best discipline team was awarded to Longleng District. The team from DYRS Kohima emerged the champion of the 35th all Nagaland Taekwondo championships with 17 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze where Dimapur bagged the first runner-up with 10 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze and Wokha district emerged the second runner-up with 10 gold and 10 silver.

During the programme M. Phammei Phom, enthralled the gathering with a song.

Earlier, the programme commenced with an invocation pronounced by the Pastor Ao Baptist Church Longleng, Meren and the program was chaired by Manngai H. Phom.
