The declaration programme of Akavi Sumi, NPF candidate for 35 Zunheboto Assembly Constituency was held on Wednesday at Zunheboto public ground, officials of Naga People’s Front Zunheboto stated.

The officials said that in a pivotal moment in the history of Zunheboto elections, “the people of Zunheboto Constituency has stood up strongly against the usage of money influence in election.”

At the rally, a donation box was placed on the ground for the people to voluntarily contribute to the candidate’s election expenditure. “Hundreds people thronged in line to contribute whatever ample sum they could”, the statement said.

The officials mentioned that people from various walks of life, the poor, businessman, daily wage labourers, etc. came together in support for the clean election movement.

NPF candidate Akavi Sumi will be contesting against KT Sukhalu, the incumbent MLA from Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).

NPF Zunheboto further said that people’s apprehensions were cleared when Akavi Sumi affirmed his integrity and pledge to fight this election despite of lure of attractive position and wealth to withdraw his candidature.

Akavi, who is from a humble background, has shamed the humans greed and is determined to show the generation that our rights and principles are more valuable than wealth. His noble cause shall be noted by generation, the statement added.
