3rd Boys U16 Inter District Tournament begins

Three matches were played across venues in Chumoukedima, Sovima, and Dimapur — all under the jurisdiction of Chümoukedima District — as the 3rd Boys U16 Inter District Tournament witnessed dominant performances, dramatic turnarounds, and one-sided encounters on Tuesday.

Chumoukedima vs Kohima

After opting to field first, Kohima dismissed Chumoukedima cheaply for 59 in the first innings, with Imkongtemsu and T Tenshing Phom sharing eight wickets between them. However, Chumoukedima staged a strong comeback in the second innings, posting 164, led by useful contributions from Ronak (31) and Nipuka (22).

Kohima struggled in both innings, bowled out for 58 and 79, as Rohit delivered a match-winning spell of 7/21, supported by Bendang Wapang and Vizotuo. Chumoukedima sealed a deserved 86-run victory.

Result: Chumoukedima won by 86 runs

Dimapur vs Peren

Dimapur produced a commanding display after choosing to bat first, amassing a massive 555/8 declared. The innings was powered by centuries from Kunal Kumar (150), Yash Poudel (141), and Chintu (111), putting Peren under immense pressure.

In reply, Peren were bowled out for 47 in the first innings and 18 in the follow-on, as Dimapur’s bowlers dominated throughout. Partha’s 5/4 in the second innings capped a completely one-sided contest, with Dimapur registering a comprehensive innings victory.

Result: Dimapur won by an innings and 490 runs

Wokha vs Niuland

After Wokha opted to bat, Niuland’s bowlers tore through the batting lineup, dismissing them for 38 in the first innings. Kitovi Sema (5/4) and Akash Gupta (5/13) shared all ten wickets in a devastating spell.

Niuland replied with 288, led by Ayush (77) and solid middle-order contributions. Wokha fared no better in the second innings, managing 32/9, as Akash Gupta returned with 5/6 and Kitovi Sema claimed 4/0, sealing an emphatic innings victory.

Result: Niuland won by an innings and 218 runs
