The 3rd edition of the Kohima Inter Department Badminton Tournament 2023 organised by the Inter Department Badminton Club (IDBC) will be held on the 12th and 13th October.

Addressing a Press Conference today, Shanavas C, Kohima Deputy Commissioner and IDBC Convenor, informed that the registration for the Tournament is now open to all the Departments with October 11 as the last date of the registration.

This tournament was initiated in 2021 by a collective of various departments headed by the Kohima DC with the aim to keep the government officials fit and active.

Shanavas C informed that last year over 100 teams from about 40 Departments participated and the same support is expected this year.

“There will be four team categories: Men’s doubles (five team from each department), Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles and 50+ Legislators, Ex-Legislators and Retirees,” stated the Convenor.

Inviting women players to come forward and participate in the Tournament, the Inter Department Badminton Club stated that it will be expecting more women team to participate this year.

The Convenor further informed that each team will have to register with a sum of Rs 2000. The registration form will available at Toyota Showroom, Secretariat; Sports Shop, opposite Raj Bhavan and Department of School Education, Bayavü Hill.

The winner for each category will be awarded Rs 15,000 and the runner up will receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000. The Tournament will be held at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Stadium.
