The Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan, a mission-driven cadre for tribal development, was launched at SCERT Kohima on September 1 where a four-day training got underway for officials from 12 districts at SCERT, Kohima co-hosted by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and Department of Tribal Affairs, Nagaland
Advisor, Tribal Affairs & Election, H Tovihoto Ayemi who was the chief guest, in his address, stated that the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan is a flagship national mission launched by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, during the mid-2025, by Prime Minister of India in the month of July, and said Aadi Karmayogi is translated as “a mission of selfless workers” designed to bring about grassroots change, to empower local leadership in the state from different walks of life to become change leaders in their own communities.
He described that the core objectives of the Aadi Karmayoga is a mission that aims to empower tribal communities by nurturing global leadership and strengthening governance from the grassroots level to build a networking of 20 lakh+ tribal leaders across one lakh villages and 550 districts across 30 different states and union territories in India to ensure that the governance system is responsive, inclusive and people centric and that every tribal community gets the services and opportunities they deserve, guided by some principles and core values of service, resolve and dedication which forms the backdrop of this initiative, aligning with the national vision that true development can occur when we work together with the effort and trust for all.
The Advisor informed that Aadi KarmaYoga Abhiyan is a part of India’s larger vision to achieve Viksit Bharat, a developed nation by 2047 and the program envisions a fully inclusive, empowered India where every community, especially our tribal population, and tribal communities also part take in the process of the development journey by empowering tribal communities, strengthening grassroots leadership and brings to people-centric governance to every doorstep of villages through selfless service, determination and dedication.

Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, Angelina Tajen in her short speech highlighted in brief about Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), a scheme launched by the Prime Minister on 2nd October 2024, which is a nationwide initiative aimed at the holistic development of tribal communities in India.
For Nagaland, she said, there are 15 departments converging together and each department making their own interventions to the scheme.
Highlighting on convergence mode, she said all relevant departments are coming together to help build up the nation with a cadre of trained, changed leaders in the village, block, district and state level and with DAJGUA to be implemented in 608 villages in Nagaland, she hoped that 79 trainees from the districts would go back and implemented all they have learnt in the training.
A team of SMT, two super coaches, four members from Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation (BRLF) and 69 DMTs from 6 key departments from 12 districts will be training the officials during the 4-day training. The inaugural programme was chaired by Programme Officer & SMT, Tribal Affairs, M. Kichung Phom.
