In a bid to curb unauthorised entry into the district, the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU), in coordination with the Wokha Village Students’ Union (WVSU), Tsumang Youth Organisation, and Niropen Colony Youth Organisation, conducted a surprise checking drive within Wokha Town on July 27, 2025.
During the surprise inspection held by Lotha Students’ Union (LSU), in coordination with the Wokha Village Students’ Union (WVSU), four individuals were apprehended for violating provisions of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
According to Nyanthung M Khuvung, Education & Statistics Secretary, Lotha Students’ Union, while the individuals possessed valid documents such as the NRC issued in Assam, they had failed to obtain the mandatory ILP required to enter or reside in Nagaland.
“No IBIs has been caught yet, however the 4 individuals caught, although holding necessary identification, did not acquire an ILP,” Khuvung clarified.
The drive was also carried out in light of growing concerns over unauthorised movement along the Disputed Area Belt (DAB), a region that has seen increased scrutiny in recent weeks.

All four individuals were handed over to the authorities for necessary action. LSU has stated that more such surprise checks will be carried out in the coming days to ensure strict enforcement of ILP regulations in the district.
Meanwhile, Wokha Deputy Commissioner, Vineet Kumar has urged relevant authorities to refrain from issuing any new ILPs or gate passes for the time being, in an effort to control unauthorised movement and ensure better monitoring.
