407 Heads of Institutions under NBSE attend online training program on Inclusive Education

Kohima: NEP 2020 strongly emphasizes inclusive education as a cornerstone for educational reforms, aiming to foster an inclusive society

Nagaland Board of School Education, in collaboration with Ummeed Child Development Centre (Ummeed CDC) and Keystone Education Society organised an online training programme on “School Leadership for Inclusive Education” for all the Heads of registered Institutions under NBSE, DIPR informed.

The two-hour session held on 10th October, covered topics on ‘Inclusion and Inclusive Education from a School Leader’s Perspective.’ A total of 407 Heads of Institutions participated in the training programme.

During the session, the Resource Persons highlighted inclusivity and inclusive education with relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes that are necessary to be an inclusive school leader. The session emphasized that inclusion is a shared commitment to ensuring education for all. Difficulties and challenges faced by the schools were also raised and discussed.

Inclusive education is a transformative approach that recognizes and values the diversity of learners, ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background, abilities or characteristics receives equitable opportunities to learn and thrive within the educational system. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 strongly emphasizes inclusive education as a cornerstone for educational reforms, aiming to foster an inclusive society that nurtures the potential of every learner.

Ummeed Child Development Centre, a non-profit organization is one of the Country’s leading NGOs, much respected for its work in the field of children with disabilities.

Keystone Education Society is also a non-profit organization which works to facilitate inclusion in educational institutions by providing special education needs support to students with learning disabilities. It aims to provide equal learning opportunities for diverse learners with diverse skills, abilities and backgrounds.
