41st General Conference of the Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho held

The 41st General Conference of the Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho (Union) (AGOK) was held on March 7, at AGOK Badze.

Zhaleo Rio (IAS) Retd, Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs who graced the conference as the Special Guest spoke on the critical significance of unity, strength, and collaborative efforts, urging the community to serve as a beacon of positive influence for the younger generation. He emphasized the value of selfless leadership and underscored the importance of expressing gratitude and fostering open-mindedness. Reflecting on the adverse consequences of disunity and the exploitation of the situation by the GoI, Rio advocated for an end to tribalism, highlighting the detrimental impact of division within the Naga community.

“We Nagas are blessed with lots of resources to generate revenue but we are not able to do because there is no unity and the government officers being the backbone of the government and community should dedicate and work hard for the development aspect of the people and state,” said Rio.

He reminded that the people present there are leaders and should give their best to help the people in whatever way they can. “God has given you power because there is a purpose and you should make use of that,” added Rio. The need to focus at the grassroots level to ensure that the people have access to the available schemes and services was also highlighted.

Rio also provided guidance on the importance of conducting oneself with integrity and unwavering commitment while striving for the advancement of Naga unity, highlighting the significance of honoring leadership positions. Furthermore, he underscored the value of adhering to a dress code, urging individuals to dress in a manner befitting every occasion, including during retirement, to uphold a dignified image.

Former MLA Dr.Dietho-o Yhoshü also exhorted the crowd. The program was earlier blessed with an invocation by Pastor Keviyiekielie Linyü, Ebenezer Baptist Church Kohima and the welcome address pronounced by AGOK President Neilasa Sopfü. Special songs were performed by the SAGOK and Lidi Kro-u, Kohima village. AGOK Vice president Er. Nirie-e Nisa pronounced the vote of thanks.

The program was chaired by Ketusielie Angami while Nongozo Rikha read the General Secretary report and Vikosieto Krose shared the Treasurer’s report.
