41st KKTSA Sports meet held at Khezhakeno

The 41st Khezha-Kuzha Tephe Sports Association (KKTSA) Meet was successfully held on January 30 and 31, 2025, at Khezhakeno Local Ground, Lepfhe, Phek district. The event was graced by Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA of 16 Pfutsero AC, Government of Nagaland, as the Special Guest, with Merhasou Pfüno, President of the Khezhakeno Outside Dwellers Union, Nagaland, as the Guest of Honour, KKTSA informed in a press release.

In his address, Dr. Mero underscored the importance of unity and oneness, emphasizing the need for collective strength in fostering social harmony. Highlighting Khezhakeno’s historical and geographical significance as a village guarding Nagaland’s boundary with Manipur, he urged the government to prioritize development efforts to safeguard the region.

Encouraging young athletes, Dr. Mero stressed the values of discipline, resilience, and consistency in sports. He reiterated the crucial role of family support and government assistance in nurturing sporting talent, acknowledging the ongoing efforts of the present administration under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in promoting sports in the state. Touching upon cultural identity, he expressed concern over the growing influence of Western culture among the youth and urged them to take pride in and preserve the rich Naga heritage.

Addressing the gathering, Guest of Honour Merhaso Pfüno encouraged young people to uphold the values of respect and discipline. He emphasized that respecting elders brings blessings, while discipline in all aspects of life leads to peace and happiness. Pfüno also highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment by refraining from consuming intoxicants and harmful substances. He urged the youth to take responsibility for keeping their village and surroundings free from such vices, fostering a better community for all.

The sports meet featured a wide range of events, including Men’s and Women’s 100 Metres Dash, 200 Metres Sprint, 400 Metres Sprint, 4×100 Metres Relay Race, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, Long Jump, High Jump, Football, Volleyball, and Basketball. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The 41st KKTSA Sports Meet concluded on a high note, reinforcing the significance of unity, culture, and athletic excellence in the community.
