28 non-locals with expired Inner Line Permit (ILP) and 47 non-local immigrants without proper documentation were detected in Wokha district during an ILP verification conducted by the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) along with the District Administration and the Police department on 13 September 2023.

The verification drive was conducted in and around Wokha Town to detect illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters, informed a press statement issued by Lirhonthung Kithan, LSU President and Chanpenthung, LSU General Secretary. In the operation, five groups were divided to inspect every colony and ward within Wokha town.

Accordingly, the 47 non-local immigrants that were detected without proper documentation were deported to Maraju (Merapani) CRPF Check Gate by the Police Department.

The Union has strongly appealed to the District Administration not to issue any futile gate pass without proper documentation, verification and identification whilst entering the district.
