Dr Nikenlemla stressed on the crucial role of the teachers in building a positive attitude in the child toward dentists and dental care. She also mentioned that more than 50 percent of children under the age of eight years are affected by dental caries and a substantial number of school hours are lost citing toothache due to tooth decay.

Promoting oral health awareness among children and their parents through the implementation of oral health education in the classrooms can prevent most of the dental problems, Dr Nikenlemla said. A training manual on oral health promotion was also distributed to all the teachers. (Clover dental can be reached at www.cloverdentalclinic.co ).
