50 youths participate in ‘Youth Fest: Marathon Race’ in Noklak held to spread HIV/AIDS awareness

Noklak: GHSS students Sha S and Moniu come 1st in boys’ and girls’ categories

Tuensang DAPCU organises Marathon race in Noklak on 12 August 2023

Tuensang District AIDS Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU) under Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) organised the Youth Fest: Marathon Race “5 Kms Red Run” in Noklak on Saturday. The event was held under the “Youth for HIV/AIDS”, with the aim to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention and promote ways to engage the youths actively in nation building and to contribute fight against HIV/ AIDS.

Deputy commissioner, Noklak, Arikumba, in his brief exhortation, mentioned that the purpose of organising the marathon race was to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS Prevention. The DC flagged off the 5 km marathon race with a total number 50 participants from different schools.

A short program was held at DC conference hall to felicitate the winners of the Red Run. In the boys’ category, Sha S of Government Higher Secondary School Noklak bagged the winning prize while Mutchiu and Shing, both from GHSS Noklak too, came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the girls’ category, Moniu of GHSS came first, Songmao of GHSS bagged second and Supon of St Paul School got the third position.

The winners were given a cash prizes. Further, they will be participating in the state level marathon race. Free HIV testing was given as part of the program.

Despite the disruption of unfavourable weather, the runners had shown a zeal of true sportsmanship spirit in participating the Youth Fest: Marathon Race.
