The Kohima Excise manning the Khuzama inter-state check gate seized 500 cases of assorted IMFL on October 15.

According to a press release by  Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Zonal), Kohima Venezolu Dawhuo, the check gate duty party while conducting routine checking of vehicles, intercepted a truck bearing registration number NI-01AK-1796 and on thorough checking of the vehicle recovered 500 cases of assorted IMFL. The illegal goods were neatly concealed under bags of essentials commodities.

In this connection the driver of the vehicle 20 years old Rashidul Islam (S/o Md.Sididique), a resident of Golpara District, Assam was apprehended for violation of NLTP Act and a case has been registered under relevant Sec. of NLTP Act 1989.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused allegedly loaded the consignment from Dimapur and was supposed to deliver the consignment at Imphal.
