520 cadets attending NCC combined annual training camp at Wokha

Wokha: A Mass Yoga Demonstration event was organized as a curtain raiser to International Day of Yoga – 2023

Combined Annual Training Camp at Wokha under 25 Naga Bn NCC

A Combined Annual Training Camp for NCC Cadets from schools and colleges affiliated to 25 Naga Bn NCC started in Assam Rifles Campus, Wokha, Nagaland on Thursday, DIPR informed. More than 520 cadets from the districts of Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang, Longleng, Shamator, Noklak, Wokha, Phek, Peren, Chumoukedima, and Kiphire are participating in this mega camp.

The opening address of the camp was delivered by Col CST Swamy, Camp Commandant and Commanding Officer, 25 Naga Bn NCC. The basic tenets of discipline and the importance of various training activities planned for the cadets were highlighted by the officer.

The Camp Commandant informed the students that, apart from the regular NCC Training, the Personality Development of the Cadets will be the main focus area. Manners and etiquette, public speaking, awareness about blood donation, prevention of HIV/AIDS, career counselling, etc will be part of this initiative. NCC is coordinating with industry leaders in providing training at subsidized costs and placement of NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders in the Airline, Hospitality, and Security industries. He called upon the cadets to avail this golden opportunity to get into a successful, well-paid career.

The Camp Commandant also informed the gathering that Career Guidance for National Defence Academy, Combined Defence Services Exam, and NCC Special entry scheme will also be provided in the camp. Those interested in entrepreneurship will also be guided in the same.

This was followed by a health awareness capsule. Dr Nzanthung Ngullie, a pathologist from District Hospital, Wokha delivered an audio-visual presentation on the benefits of Voluntary Blood Donation. He urged the young cadets to come forward and save at least four lives every time they donate blood. A large number of students expressed their interest in becoming Blood Donors and leading the young generation.

Earlier, the cadets were screened for Covid-19 on arrival before being allowed into the camp. The cadets were also given a health check-up by a team of paramedics from the District Hospital, Wokha.

The day started with a ‘Mass Yoga Demonstration’ by Yoga Teachers from Vivekanand Kendra Vidyalaya led by Capt Irshad Hussain of 40 Assam Rifles. More than 500 Cadets, Associate NCC Officers, Permanent Instructors, and Assam Rifles jawans took part in the Yoga practice. The event was organized as a curtain raiser to the International Day of Yoga – 2023.
