52nd General Conference of Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) concludes

Wokha: The three-day conference was held under the theme ‘People of the land must become the brand’ from 11 to 13 January

The LSU 52nd General Conference was held on 11–13 January in Liphanyan village, Wokha.

The 52nd General Conference of the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU), which had commenced on 11 January, came to a conclusion on Friday in Liphanyan village, located in the south-western part of Wokha district.

Held under the theme ‘People of the land must become the brand’, the three-day conference was led by Zubemo Ovung and Meribeni O Patton.

On the first day, K Renphamo Lotha, District Agriculture Officer, Mon, graced the inaugural function as the special guest. In his speech, he encouraged the students to set a goal and be hardworking to achieve success in life. He emphasised that education is the way to development.

Two sessions were conducted on the second day, 12 January.

In the morning, Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor Horticulture and Border Affairs, inaugurated the monolith and hoisted the Lotha Students’ Union flag.

Yanthan advised the youths to look at how people see them and at whether they are standing in the truth or not. He also advised them to choose leaders who are capable in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.

In the afternoon session, Lichan Humtsoe, founder and CEO of Ete Coffee, drew on his life experience to speak on the theme ‘People of the land must become the brand’.

On the final day of the general conference, a cultural programme comprising of events such as storytelling of our ancestors and a cultural fashion show was held in the morning. The speaker of the session was Orenthung Lotha, Additional Secretary, Department of Industry and Commerce Nagaland.

In the evening session, the 52nd General Conference of the LSU concluded with the presence of Mhonlumo Kikon, Advisor IT, Science and Technology and New & Renewable Energy, as the special speaker.

In his speech, Kikon focused on Naga issues and stated that the issues belong not only to one tribe but to everyone. With that mindset, we should walk together as one for better achievement in the future, he said.

The advisory also encouraged the students to get through the competitive exams through hard work.

Lastly, Vanthungo V Lotha, GHSS principal and former LSU general secretary, gave grace during the programme.
