Wokha vs Chümoukedima

Wokha emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 14 runs over Chumoukedim at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Chumoukedima in the ongoing 5th Late G Rio Men’s U19 Tournament on April 8, 2025.

After winning the toss, Wokha chose to bat but found themselves in trouble early on as they were bowled out for just 78 runs in 21 overs. Despite the challenging conditions, Wokha managed to post a competitive total thanks to a resilient 18-run knock by Shahil Uddin Laskar.

However, the highlight of the match came from Wokha’s bowlers, who delivered a commanding performance, led by Krishna Kumar. Kumar’s magnificent spell of 6 wickets for just 21 runs in 9 overs was the game-changer, as it not only restricted the opponent’s batting line-up but also set up a thrilling chase for the home team. Ravi Kumar Ram supported Kumar’s efforts with a stunning 4-wicket haul (4/1 in 5 overs), putting further pressure on Chümoukedima.

Chümoukedima, in their chase of 79 runs, found themselves in a precarious position from the outset. Despite a spirited 17-run contribution from Yanselong, they struggled to build any substantial partnerships and were dismissed for just 64 runs in 22.2 overs.

The Player of the Match award went to Wokha’s Krishna Kumar for his outstanding bowling performance. His match-winning figures of 6 wickets for 21 runs played a pivotal role in ensuring Wokha’s victory. Kumar’s exceptional control and ability to pick up crucial wickets at key moments were integral to his team’s success.

Mokokchung vs Tuensang

In a spectacular display of skill and determination, Mokokchung secured a commanding victory over Tuensang by 154 runs in their clash at the Sovima Cricket Ground in Chümoukedima.

Tuensang won the toss and opted to field, hoping to capitalize on early conditions. However, Mokokchung’s batting lineup delivered a strong response, posting a challenging total of 187 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 39.4 overs. Amongti Lkr led the charge with a solid 42 runs off 76 balls, supported by a quick-fire 37 from Imkongmemba, which boosted Mokokchung’s innings during the middle overs.

The turning point of the match, however, came with Mokokchung’s bowling attack, which delivered a masterclass in discipline and aggression. Shumritsa shone with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 34 runs in his 10-over spell, while Aratsa Mongzar chipped in with 2 crucial wickets for 51 runs, maintaining pressure throughout Tuensang’s innings.

Tuensang’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, managing only 33 runs before being bowled out in just 19.1 overs. The team struggled to cope with the relentless pace and precision of Mokokchung’s bowlers. Phololi was the top scorer with a modest 8 runs off 27 balls, as no other batsman managed to cross double digits.

The Player of the Match award was rightfully claimed by Amongti Lkr for his outstanding all-round performance. His pivotal contributions with both the bat and the ball made him the key figure in Mokokchung’s dominant win. Lkr’s ability to break partnerships and maintain pressure underlines his potential as a future star in the making.
