Arkong, Mongsenbai, and Sungkomen have clinched spots in the quarterfinals after defeating Majakong, Kumlong, and Salangtem in the tournament.

The first Quarterfinal of the 5th Mokokchung Inter-ward Football Tournament will witness Artang against Majakong at 1:00 PM, followed by the second Quarterfinal between Mongsenbai and Sangtemla at 2:45 PM on Monday, 18 March.

Tarepnungsang from Sungkomen ward leads the tournament in goals scored with 8, followed by Alemjungba from Artang with 4 goals, and R. Achi from Sangtemla, Limatongzuk from Artang, Tangmong from Sungkomen, and Noklensunep from Arkong with three goals each.

Arkong from Pool B secured their second win today against Majakong with a 3-1 scoreline, with Bendangtoshi (Jersey no.9) scoring twice in the 32nd and 42nd minute, followed by a goal from Noklensunep (Jersey No.11) in the 50th minute. Majakong’s Nukshimongba (Jersey No.4) scored a consolation goal in the 56th minute.

In the second match, Mongsenbai defeated neighboring ward Kumlong 3-1. Mefutiba (Jersey no.20) of Kumlong scored first in the 11th minute, but Shilponglepba (Jersey no. 8) of Mongsenbai equalized in the 14th minute, and Mongsenbai took the lead with Shilponglepba’s second goal in the 28th minute, followed by Imnatoshi (Jersey no. 12) sealing the win with a goal in the 37th minute.

Sungkomen dominated the third match, thrashing Salangtem with an 11-0 victory. Tarepnungsang (Jersey no. 7) was the standout scorer with seven goals in the 2nd, 16th, 17th, 21st, 22nd, 27th, and 48th minutes. Tangmong (Jersey no. 8) contributed three goals in the 29th, 41st, and 53rd minute, while Aotoshi (Jersey no.10) added one in the 50th minute, bringing the total to eleven, the highest in the tournament so far.

The fourth and fifth Quarterfinals will take place between Arkong versus Alempang, and Sungkomen versus Tongdentsuyong, respectively, on 19 March.
