Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, while addressing the media today at PHQ, Kohima stated that around 6 to 8 Police personnels have been arrested for dealing in drugs. Stating this he said the law is the same for everybody including those in the police force.
“They are ongoing investigation but rest assured Police personnels have been arrested in the last 15-20 days,” added Sharma.

Sharma spoke on the police as being on high alert to ensure a peaceful election in the state. He also categorically mentioned that the manner of inducement during election has shifted from liquor to drugs.
With the increase in the number of drug users, liquor is being substituted by drugs, he said.
On election related cases of violence, Sharma said five cases have been reported so far, two from Wokha, two from Mokokchung and one from Longleng. In this connection, 15 people in Mokokchung, 8 in Wokha and one in Longleng have been arrested.
Further he said vulnerable areas have been strengthened, and Zunheboto which has a history of violence during elections has so far been peaceful.
On seizures, he informed that 66000 litres of liquor have been seized till last evening. On cash seizure he said Rs.3.56 crore have been seized till yesterday with Dimapur topping the list and as per preliminary reports, 53 cases were registered in the state under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in the last 20 days.
The DGP however maintained that the overall law and order situation in the state is peaceful till date.
