Samborlang Rynjah from Mawryngkneng in Meghalaya has bagged scholarship from Minerva Punjab Football Academy after his goalkeeping skills impressed many including Rynjah’s idol, Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez.
According to digital media platform Northeast Media Hub News, the Chandigarh based football academy has offered to take care of the six-year-old, including schooling and football related expenses. The club will provide him with training and coaching to enhance his goalkeeping talents, Hub News further said.
Samborlang Rynjah’s exceptional abilities caught people’s eyes when his cousin Banshailang Rynjah uploaded his videos on Instagram that went viral gaining over 15 million views.
One such video is said to had been shared by Emiliano Martínez in his story on Instagram.
In the videos taken by Banshailang Rynjah, Sambolang can be seen diving and jumping to save the ball from getting pass the goal posts with no net. There are clothes hung for drying and chickens can be seen roaming as the strikers maneuver the ball on the uneven ground that has a drain cutting across the field.
