The 60th General Session of the Anatongre Students’ Union cum Sports Meet 2024 commenced at the Public Ground, Anatongre Village in Shamator district on Thursday. The five-day session is being held under the theme ‘Beyond Boundaries: Refit Towards Excellence’.

Addressing the inaugural program, Special Guest Lt. Col. T Asuthong, 3 Gorkha Riffles (GR), expressed his happiness at the increase in student enrolment in the village. He however also advised the students’ union to pursue quality education over statistics.

Lt. Col. T Asuthong exhorted that each person has their own interests and abilities and encouraged the students to never give up on their goals. Some are meant to be officers, some sportsmen or missionaries and therefore each person should find their own potentials and seek our goals, the Special Guest said.

Speaking about the digital age, he stated that most people in today’s generation have access to oceans of information and said that the question is, are we using it for learning or just for leisure? Lt. Col. T Asuthong urged the student community to retrospect on this and utilize the available resources and knowledge for building and equipping oneself.

He also stressed on the importance of sports and games and encouraged the youth to be fit and energetic which will also help their mental health.

Yutsulim T, President, Anatongre Students’ Union, in his address, extended his warm greetings on the occasion. He thanked the former pioneers of education in Anatongre village and stated that the seeds of knowledge and wisdom they have sown is bearing fruits today.

The inaugural session concluded with a majestic folk dance from male group of Anatongre village and female folk song. A march pass from five houses of the Anatongre Village Students’ Union namely, Deadpool (Red), Black Panther (Blue), Hal Jordan (Green), Wolverine (Yellow) and College students.
